As part of celebrations of National Science day, Indo Global Colleges hosted a Seminar on "RENEWABLE ENERGY, CLEAN ENERGY AND NUCLEAR SAFETY" which is the theme of this year's National Science Day. This program was jointly organized, funded and sponsored by Punjab State Council for Science & Technology, Chandigarh ;Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, New Delhi held at the Seminar Hall of Indo Global College of Engineering, Abhipur, near Chandigarh. The Seminar commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp followed by welcome address by Dr Promila Kaushal Principal Indo Global College of Engineering. The Chief Guest for the Seminar was Dr. N S Mehla, a renowned Scientist who rose up to the position of Scientist G Grade and got superannuated as Chief Scientist, the senior most scientist in the region. As in - charge of V4 Photonics his contribution in the realm of research & development of scientific and industrial instrumentation, technologies in the field of Optics, Fibre Optics and Photonics was remarkable in developing a great talent pool of young researchers and scientists. Dr. Neelam Gulati Sharma, Additional Director of PSCST was the Co ordinator for this program. National Science Day is celebrated under the aegis of NCSTC, DST, Govt. of India on or around 28th of February every year. The choice of the date is linked to the discovery of the Raman Effect. As part of the celebrations commencing from 28 February various activities like exhibitions, competitions, lectures, slide shows, workshops, training camps, poster making competition and science quiz were are carried out culminating in the Seminar followed by Prize Distribution to the winners of various competitions. The most sought after prize was in the Technical Paper presentation wherein the students put up an excellent performance making it difficult for the Chief Guest to decide the winners. Dharitri Hazarika bagged the First prize followed by Dheeraj Kumar getting the Second and Amrit Raj getting the Third prize. They are all students of Electronics Fourth semester. They were also given mementoes and certifications for their outstanding performance. Dr. Mehla gave a detailed presentation on photonics followed by question answer session from the student audience. The energetic students capitalizing on the golden opportunity raised a barrage of questions and tried to get most of their curiosities answered. Professor Basudeo Prasad Head of department of Electronics and telecommunications engineering and Assistant Professor BK Sharma of Indo Global College of engineering actively contributed to the successful organizing of the program. Present on the occasion was R. Panickar Director General Indo Global Colleges who urged the youth to go beyond rhetoric and contribute actively in reducing carbon footprints for a better environment and use renewable and clean energy wherever such options are available. Indo Global Colleges a premier institution in the field of technology and management conducted 5 days joint faculty development with PTU at their Abhipur Campus near Chandigarh from 18 June to 23 June 2012 well attended by all faculty of Indo Global Colleges and over 50 delegates from surrounding colleges. The resource persons included academic luminaries, prolific speakers and renowned trainers such as Dr. R P Satsangi and Dr. Siby John from PEC, Dr. Vishal Sood Alumni IIM Ahmedabad, Dr. Jagmeet Bawa from PTU, Dr. Harpreet Khattar Founder Director of Secugenious Security Solutions, Col Satish Vijra from DIET Kharar, Prof. PK Singla Head of Curriculam Development NITTTR, Dr. PK Bansal AICTE Panelist and Amit Chadha Principal Consultant on Six Sigma methodology for Quality Improvement.  On the first day Dr. Satsangi inaugurated the session followed by Vishal Sood speaking on Use of technology in education and Dr. Jagmeet Bawa speaking on Human Values. The second day commenced with Dr. Siby John an academician par excellence from PEC, also serving various International Journals as Referee and Editor. Dr. Siby John  addressed the employability factor and stressed on ‘project based’ learning to make the teaching-learning experience truly enjoyable and most rewarding. This was followed by a highly interactive session by Dr. Y K Anand on  innovation and creativity development in engineering teaching  and Dr. Harmeet Dhindsa speaking on effective curriculum development. Dr. Harpreet Khattar Founder director of Secugenious Security Solutions commenced the third day session with insights on Cyber security followed by Col. Satish Vijra speaking on mechanism of product selection and technology assistance from R&D Labs and other agencies. Professor PK Singla, a renowned academician and mentor from NITTTR who has done extensive work on curriculum development for engineering courses spoke on Project Work for effective curriculum. Dr. PK Bansal AICTE Panelist and an eminent resource personality gave valuable tips on making teaching – learning not only educative but also memorable, enjoyable and meaningful. The session of the fourth day was commenced by Dr Bansal followed by Amit Chadha who conducted a prolonged two day session on six sigma methodology for quality improvement.
Speaking on the occasion Shir Sukhdev Kumar Singla emphasized the importance of consistently enhancing the academic and intellectual environment in the campus in order to achieve excellence. He said that faculty development programs are a must and should be done at regular intervals to keep the faculty updated and sharp.
Manav Singla CEO of Indo Global Colleges said that the purpose of program was to imbibe the participating faculty members with more innovative and interesting teaching techniques ,thereby making their lectures more enjoyable for the students. Expressing satisfaction on the grand success of the program, he said that the participants would now feel better equipped to face the changes in the teaching-learning scenario and forge ahead successfully.

Indo Global Colleges hosted a one day Seminar on 'Foreign Languages & Placements: A Vital Connection' sponsored by Punjab Technical University, Jallandhar. Dr. Prabhjot Kaur, In charge of Foreign Languages PTU Mohali Campus, Navneet Kaur Faculty French and Nav Kiran Singh Faculty German and Vishvadeep, Assistant Registrar along with Dr. Promila Kaushal Principal Indo Global College of Engineering and R. Panickar Director General of Indo Global Colleges addressed the students of engineering and management gathered in a Seminar Hall packed to full capacity. The Seminar commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and welcome address by Dr. Promila Kaushal. The eminent speakers enlightened the students on the importance of learning foreign languages and how it progressively impacts their career options accross the globe. Diligence, hard work and consistency in reading, writing and communicating will help the student to master any language that they may choose to learn.
According to Dr. Prabhjot Kaur, 'learning a foreign language improves the market value of the student. Knowing a foreign language not only adds substance to their Resume but also enhances their career options and even enriches them as an individual.' With more and more Indians working abroad and more and more foreign nationals visiting our country not only for tourism but also for business, learning foreign languages has become vitally important.
Navneet Kaur and Nav Kiran Singh Faculty of French and German respectively had a very interactive session with the students duly driving home the importance of foreign language and how it enhances career growth.
Speaking on the occasion R. Panickar Director General of Indo Global Colleges said that although English is predominantly important as global business language, it is equally important to learn other foreign languages like French, German, Spanish, Japanese and Mandarin. Learning a foreign language not only stimulates the mind of the youth, but it would also create a healthy impression on the foreign counterpart with whom communication is being established for transacting business; it would imply that you are willing to go that extra mile to build long term business relationship.
